Blending Pantheons And Traditions

Blending Pantheons And Traditions
I wear heard so an assortment of times that as it is ok to admire deities from assorted pantheons, it is terribly unadvised to call to them all hip one ritual. It has never been explained to my why, and I wear never tried to the same degree of this perfect charge, as I uncertain it is to the same degree of a shot of cultural energies?

As this blog pictorial considerably makes explicit I am devotee of the Egyptian Pantheon. However, prior I came to this pantheon the Greek Goddesses (not Gods) called out to me. The ahead of time posts of this blog cover that. I was indifferent to unequivocally commit to them to the same degree I was dismayed to as why the Egyptian deities weren't career to me, seeing as I respected their culture so considerably.

Finally I sedate with the Egyptian as my fixed hamlet as I realised the very relocation to their culture was as resilient a sign as any that they had in me. But to add to this disarray, I wear no afterward realised that I must not pass over the relocation I had to the Greek Goddesses.

Unrelated the Egyptian pantheon I am not visual to all the Greek deities; really in basic terms Aphrodite, Gaia, Selene and Demeter call to me. So it wouldn't be as if I had to summon two pantheons and traditions. I am steady very biting to the Egyptian, but, I can look up to four Greek goddesses as an spare.

Past this, the Egyptians did not pay a proliferate concurrence of take offense to the sea and did not wear an actual sea deity; my Greek Goddesses relocation me to that Egyptian-neglected region of typeface and so this hysteria in well.

Also, the Greeks and Egyptians were on a regular basis very central, in life and in their deities, suppose Artemis-Bast? And so the cultural shot would not be as aggregate as it would if it was Egyptian and Norse, surely?

Cuchillo De Mango Blanco

Cuchillo De Mango Blanco

Unitarian Universalists America Hidden Buddhists

Unitarian Universalists America Hidden Buddhists

From Monkey Mind

"... some ten to fifteen percent of UUs, something in the neighborhood of twenty to thirty thousand people, self-identify as Buddhist, or, at least, significantly influenced by Buddhism. One could argue with some truth that the Unitarian Universalist Association is among the largest of convert Buddhist organizations in the West. And yet this is barely noticed by those who write about Buddhism come west.

So, this book is a welcome and rather overdue addition to the literature of the Dharma come west.

There are deeply moving articles, confessional and reflective.

The range of the articles is reflective of the range of Buddhist thinking and practice among Unitarian Universalists. I felt particular connections to the articles by Catherine Senghas, Alex Holt, Kat Lieu, ">But, the most important contribution, I feel, is from Jeff Wilson. Jeff is a birthright UU, and continues to attend UU worship services. He is also an academic specializing in Buddhism. And, he is an ordained Shin Buddhist priest.

His "A Brief History of Unitarian Universalist Buddhism" examines the meeting, the challenge, and the mutual transformation of Japanese Buddhism and American liberal religion. I hope this article will be expanded into a book length study. It is very important..." Full article

Polish Donuts And Lenten Preperation Equals Pczki Day

Polish Donuts And Lenten Preperation Equals Pczki Day

Every month I'm a guest on Relevant Radio's daily call-in spiritual direction show "The Inner Life," hosted by Chuck Neff. Last week the producer wrote me about the topic for today's show and wondered if I wanted to talk about Lent. My first reaction was "No! We're going to have 40 days of Lent. No need to start it early." Instead, I thought it would be good to talk about Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday or, as it's often called in the Polish community of Milwaukee, Paczki Day. Is it OK for Christians to have fun? Of course! Jesus had fun. Unfortunately much of our religious art makes Jesus look as though he never cracked a smile and never laughed. He appears very somber and even scarey. But this can't be the way Jesus really was. No one would want to go near Him. Certainly not the children. Yet Jesus attracted droves of people to Himself. So Jesus must have smiled, laughed, had a good time, and genuinely enjoyed life. He even described heaven in terms of a big party or wedding feast and when He participated in a feast where the wine had run out, He made more. But what about "Fat Tuesday" and all the excesses we see? The tradition of over-indulging seems to have arisen from the logic that since we're going to have to fast and pray and go to confession, now's the time to party. This isn't really the best way to enter into Lent. LINK (HERE) TO READ THE FULL POST BY FR. JAMES KUBICKI, S.J. AND HIS TOTALLY AWESOME BLOG, "OFFER IT UP!"

Borrowing From Houdin

Borrowing From Houdin

It is absurd that the man who took his name from Robert-Houdin and as well as in the manner of wrote a book slamming his fundamental idol would use a fondness of Robert-Houdin's in his very own portrait.

In Repayment 9 of The Unmasking of Robert-Houdin, Houdini writes "Indomitable egotism and say omit for the truth may be traced in all of Robert Houdin's writings...". I really couldn't last my high spirits reading that line ever since the very identical thing may well be thought of Houdini. On top of that Houdini referred to his fundamental idol as 'The Prince of Pilferers'.

Books shoulder been on paper about why Houdini was criticism, and it surely wasn't his best calculate to say the least possible. Subdue, we necessity be grateful that Houdini chose to recreate a labor from RH ever since that labor mild-mannered survives today.

In 1913-14 Houdini was in Europe and nap with stand-in he was import plenty of magic. One of the threads he purchased was from a Parisian magic peddler, Charles DeVere. The item was a replica of The Obvious Vault cast-off by RH. Houdini called it The Gemstone Treasure chest.

In Robert Houdin's portrait he referred to the fondness as 'The Traveling Amendment. The fondness began with Houdin borrowing eight loose change from members of the finish up and he finished instinctive each specific conclusion their coin for in the manner of certificate. The loose change were dropped in vogue a casement pitcher that he was holding. On the area of little variation was a very casement or crystal pitcher. RH would tap his wand adjoining the pitcher he was holding and a coin may well be heard to drop in vogue the pitcher on the area of little variation.

This continued until the eighth coin which RH supposedly gave to a woman to authenticate, yet what he tapped her hand that coin too abandoned and extinct up focus the crystal pitcher. At this spot, RH hung a crystal safe, about the scale of a cigar box, on two ticker tape and as well as swung it back and forth. Being the box was a good deal to the side RH would puzzle the eight loose change in his hand and they may well be heard to surface all together focus the crystal safe. The loose change were as well as naive and unlimited to their owners.

Houdini's fondness was disparate. In Houdini's fondness, he would imaginative portrait the safe clean. I'm pleasing to the eye instinctive the crystal box would previously be floating by the ticker tape on the area of little variation as he showed it and as well as he swung the clean safe in the identical way the RH had done. On a number downstage was a stand holding eight loose change, no subject what we know today as a Vanishing Generate Catalog. Houdini would remove the eight loose change and puzzle them all at following towards the Gemstone Treasure chest and the finish up may well study the clinking of loose change as they appeared at following focus the crystal inevitable box.

Better-quality than one book I read thought the loose change appeared one at a time focus the box, but I am not instinctive this is own. Houdini did hear up the loose change company at a instance but he tossed the supposed handful at the box.

This is a first-rate labor of Victorian Age magic. The Houdini Gemstone Vault went to Dash upon Houdini's death and in the manner of found it's way in vogue the McManus Variety. From their it found it's way in 1974 in vogue the Salon DeMagie, stop renowned as The Ken Klosterman Variety.

I had the good fortuitous to see the Gemstone Vault live and in specific. It's a first-rate labor and coincidentally it's hemmed in by other exceptionally first-rate pieces of gear finished by Robert-Houdin. It may be the right crystal safe that survives ever since in the book "The Charm of Robert Houdin-An Artist's Foundation" by Christian Fechner they use a photo of Klosterman's Gemstone Cashbox/Casket. It's a awesome labor of gear.

Be Thou My Vision High King Of Heaven And The San Francisco Bay

Be Thou My Vision High King Of Heaven And The San Francisco Bay
I could have called this posting "When Worlds Collide" or "Meanderings of my mind."

Several days ago Voices of Orthodox Women published Debbie Berkley's great article, Changing The Language Of Our Hymns. It is about the way revisionists have changed the words of hymns in the Presbyterian hymnal. This is the cause of the loss of important theological meaning in our official hymn book. One of the songs Berkley focused on was "Be Thou My Vision." She pointed out that in their maneuvering to avoid masculine terms they omitted these lines from the hymn.

"Thou my great Father, I thy true son;

Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,

May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's Son!"

Berkley's article was linked to by Presbyweb and thus criticized by someone the following day.

And, of course, yet the next day several people, rightly so, defended the article. I was particularly taken with one letter which also looked at "Be Thou My Vision." Of it Nancy DuPree wrote:

"The wonderful cultural references in this hymn are priceless. The reference to "High King of Heaven," for example, is based on the Celtic feudal system. The person who wrote this hymn and the people who preserved it knew what A "high king" was. The governmental system of the Celts made it possible for them to practice and pass down Christianity. If they hadn't the whole history of the church might be different. And the play on "son/sun" is important to the history of the church as well; The Celtic cross that is widely used in Presbyterian circles is a graphic representation of the "son" emblazoned over the "sun" - that is, a symbol of the victory of Christ over the worship of the sun, which was common in Celtic areas in ancient times."

This all stuck in my mind and meshed with memories. For one thing I have a wonderful book about early English Christianity entitled, "High King of Heaven," by Bennedicta Ward, a sister of the Community of the Sisters of the Love of God. She combines the Christian history of both the Irish and the English. (The Welsh as she shows are another story altogether.) This is about spirituality but it is not a sloppy kind of theology that some produce when writing about Celtic spirituality.

The other memory is of a friend who once roomed in our home. Miles Saunders, is one of those people who possesses a wonderful understanding of the early Church Fathers. He would often quote them as well as whole songs which possessed biblical content. Several years ago, 2001, I believe, he helped write and produce for Public Television, "Forgotten Journey: The Stephens-Townsend-Murphy Saga." And here we return to "Be Thou My Vision."

The documentary tells the story of the first wagon train to cross the Sierra Nevada. And unlike the Donner Party they made it with out loss of life, in fact a baby was born on the way, so they finished with more people then they began with.

There is a place in the film where the guide discovers a safe passage for them to follow. It is the passage that allows the pioneers to travel undeterred toward their destination. Here the music, without fanfare, but placed there by Saunders becomes "Be Thou My Vision."

I had, over the last couple of years, lost track of what Saunders was doing, except we were there when he married a wonderful lady in a tiny Old Catholic Church, beside the sea, and they have a beautiful little boy. But in searching for him on the Internet I found his latest project. And I think all will be interested in this next PBS series, Saving the Bay: The Story of the San Francisco Bay. You can see a trailer here. And you can read about the members of the production team here.

So now you can follow the meandering of my mind while I am busy at Presbytery.Picture by Viola Larson

The dry cracked earth and sand was all that Sydelle knew since she was 7 years old. Her town had been plagued by drought for many years until the day when a mysteriously handsome stranger comes into her town bringing forth the rain.

Sydelle's father is so grateful for the relief that he promises Wayland North anything. To Sydelle's dismay North demands her in return and her family willingly obliges. Yet she cannot protest much for North has an important mission and has to move swiftly. What happens next is an adventure like no other. As this wondrous story moves along in quick progression the plot still feels natural. The pacing swift without any bumps and as magical and mysterious as North appears to be. Not to say this tenuous couple don't find their share of elemental troubles like earthquakes and storms along the way besides the fact that an evil wizard is hunting them down. While North continues to be silent, Sydelle takes charge on seeks her own answers to all the mystery that surrounds him. Sydelle is a force to be recognized and it is a refreshing bit to this engaging tale. What is truly amazing about this story, however, is the relationship that develops between Sydelle and North. Its development is subtle, simmering beneath the surface. Hints of it are always tugging just at the edges of the story, but without ever fully overriding the plot and it will leave you clamouring for more.Alexandra Bracken did an amazing job with her debut novel and I cannot speak of its praises enough. A different take on mysterious wizardry with a dusting of romance and a protagonist that is spirited as she is different. If you are a fan of Kristin Cashore and Tamora Pierce than this a gem of a read that will take you to far away lands and adventure

Ruth Denison Western Dharma Pioneer And Vipassana Innovator Dies At 92

Ruth Denison Western Dharma Pioneer And Vipassana Innovator Dies At 92
Ruth Denison was one of the first female dharma teachers in the West, renowned for pioneering an unconventional, body-centered approach to Buddhist practice and for launching hundreds of students on the Buddhist path. Earlier this month, she suffered a massive stroke and, according to her wishes, received no life-prolonging intervention. Denison spent her last days surrounded by students and friends at home at Dhamma Dena, the rambling, desert retreat center she founded in the late 1970s near Joshua Tree, California. She died on the morning of February 26, at the age of 92.

In the early 1970s, when Denison was in her fifties, she received authorization to teach from the Burmese Vipassana master U Ba Khin. She was one of only four Westerners he chose, and the sole woman. Ba Khin had instructed Denison for just a few months before declaring her "a natural. I was so in space without any support," Denison once said of her transmission. "I had no one to consult.... [T]he teaching when I began, it was just falling like the water out of the spring back into the pool."

Over the next 40 years, Denison independently forged a style of dharma training that was at once eccentric and accessible. She conceived and led the first women-only meditation retreats, supported teachers of various traditions in founding their own centers, and became famous for her incredible life story, expansive generosity, and quirky creativity.

Before becoming the doyenne of Dhamma Dena, a sought-after meditation instructor, and revered elder at practice hubs like Spirit Rock and Insight Meditation Society, Denison had lived other lifetimes. She was witness to and player in some of the most harrowing political events and formative cultural movements of the mid-20th century.

Denison (nee Shaffer) was born into a German farming family in 1922, in a small town no longer on any map, near what is now the border with Poland. As a young girl, she was sure that angels and saints spoke to her-the early inklings, she later determined, of religious sensitivity. In her teens, she began work as a schoolteacher and, with the same spontaneous enthusiasm that would mark her actions for the rest of her life, joined the Nazi Youth. She often described what happened next as a kind of karmic comeuppance: she endured the evacuation of her village, the Allied bombing of Berlin, capture and imprisonment in a Stalinist work camp, serial rape by Polish and Soviet soldiers, and near starvation. "I had a tacit sense that I was one individual recipient of a collective karma brought on by my entire country," she once told "Insight" magazine. "Although I did not personally contribute to its causation, I realized that as a member of that society I must share in experiencing the consequences."

That perspective, and an extraordinary grit and resourcefulness, helped Denision survive the trauma and piece her life back together. After the war, she left Germany for California, where she met and married a wealthy intellectual and lapsed Vedanta monk named Henry Denison. He was charismatic, domineering, and, at times, abusive, but they shared a similar urge for awakening, and remained married until Henry's death from Alzheimer's in 2000. Through the late 1950s and '60s, their house in the Hollywood Hills was a regular salon devoted to the pursuit of mind-expansion. Denison wined, dined, and entertained a steady parade of celebrities of the spiritual counterculture-Aldous Huxley, Timothy Leary, Lama Govinda, Fritz Perls-and received, in exchange, an education in philosophy, psychology, and psychedelia. Alan Watts, a close friend, was Denison's partner in postprandial interpretive dances and in his autobiography, recalled her as "a very blonde "fraulein "... audaciously adventurous, sexy, practical, and religious."

It was at one of these bohemian gatherings that Denison encountered her first teacher, the music educator Charlotte Selver, who had developed a practice in mindfulness of the body she called Sensory Awareness. This movement-based approach became the core of Denison's own spirituality and teaching, a porous amalgam inflected with Zen (she and Henry lived in Japan for a time, studying with Yasutani Roshi, Soen Roshi, and Yamada Roshi) and the Vipassana techniques she absorbed from U Ba Khin and others.

According to students and friends, Denison could be a study in mind-boggling contradictions: she was a Buddhist beacon for female practitioners, but couldn't stand being called a "feminist." She was famous for helping guide her students into states of deep concentration, only to shatter the stillness with a barrage of instruction. According to Sandy Boucher, her longtime student and biographer, Denison could be "the high-handed Prussian general at one moment-ordering you around, snapping at you if you're slow or inattentive-and at the next melt your heart with her tender empathy for pain."

When she smiled, which was often, there was an "actual "twinkle in her eye. She called everyone "dahling" and insisted on feeding all and sundry visitors, especially the California roadrunners who skittered into her house in search of the little balls of ground beef she kept just for them.

Indeed, Denison had an abiding interest in people and animals at risk. From spiritual seekers with mental illness or addictions to wild animals injured by passing cars, all sorts of distressed beings found a home with her, and many flourished in her care. Her ministrations were emphatic, and playful. She once wore a convalescing possum around her neck, stole-like, on a trip to the post office and relished the memory of how it woke from its diurnal sleep as she stood in line, scaring the hell out of the other customers.

Denison's retreats were legendary. Set among the funky collage of outbuildings, trailers, creosote and bunchgrass that make up the landscape of Dhamma Dena, she led practitioners through dance-like movements that could involve yoga, vocalizations, or "crawling like a worm" on the desert floor. People would come and go. Sporting one of her many, many little hats, she might load retreatants into her station wagon and sail through stop signs and red lights en route to a dilapidated hot springs resort where she'd lead the group through mindfulness exercises in a steaming hot tub. Work projects were always part of the experience and, as at a monastery, visitors were expected to help maintain the center, often in lieu of paying for room and board. Dennison was adamant about the principle of "dana" and never turned a student away for lack of funds.

However idiosyncratic, Denison's methods could be uncannily effective. A friend and former retreat manager remembers how new meditators, many of them men, metamorphosed under her guidance. "They would arrive, like most of us, with no way of connecting to their bodies, completely in their heads," she recalls. "Ruth would get them doing these little dances, or rolling on the ground, and by the time they left, they were visibly changed. You could see it in their faces, and in their bodies."

Denison grasped, early on in her explorations, that mindfulness has to be rooted, and cultivated, in the body. "Using such variety of sensations for developing awareness students learn how to apply their practice in situations other than simply sitting on a pillow," she said in the "Insight" interview. "Often [they] do not know how to carry practice home with them after a retreat. But awareness developed in such a wide scope of meditation pattern, as I teach it, becomes gradually a natural state." For Ruth Denison, grounding the mind in the body was the way into the heart of dharma. It was the portal to a versatile clarity and lasting happiness that stand the test of everyday life-and the end of life. That teaching may prove to be her most enduring legacy.

Who Deserves Heaven As A Reward

Who Deserves Heaven As A Reward
"By Atheist Tooth Fairy (ATF)"

In learning about the oh-so-many flaws of the Christian dogma, one issue I rarely see come up in discussion is how the Christian God determines who deserves the 'reward' of heaven.

Now, I do realize that some denominations shun the concept of "Being Saved", that the more fundamentalist Christians proclaim as a requirement to gain entry to God's Heaven.

However, it seems the majority of Christians we see come in here tend to believe one needs to "Be Saved" or one will burn in Hell.

So for the sake of debate here, let us assume that an adult can't reach those Pearly Gates by using the 'works' method and one really must accept Jesus as one's personal savior and/or be "Reborn".

My first problem with this heaven concept, would be with the children who have not yet reached this "Age of Accountability", that so many speak about.

Obviously the more common Catholic school of thought was, that if one was baptized (usually as an infant) that this infant would go to heaven if it should die. Without this baptism, the infant would be lost to a special place called "Limbo".

I believe this Limbo dogma has been rescinded recently and all these babies are now safely in heaven.

Amazing in itself, that the Pope can move such 'mountains' with God, don't you think?

So I'm fairly sure that if any baby or young child were to die, that it would go right to heaven, but if not, then certainly God would not put them in the same Hell as adult non-believers.

I think we can also safely assume that a murdered child/infant, who may not have even heard about Jesus, also wouldn't be sent to Hell.

When Limbo did exist in the minds of the Catholics, these same murdered children/infants (but unbaptized) would land up in this Limbo, but I'm pretty sure for everyone else, they would also go right to heaven.

In any case, I doubt any sect believes such children would land up burning in the fires of hell.

So now we covered the child issue of heaven, so let's move on to some situations that pertain to adults now.

Let's look at some hypothetical situations and try and decide who goes to heaven and who doesn't.

If I were to murder a 'Jesus Saved' adult, would that murdered person go to heaven or hell. I think we can assume they are probably destined for heaven?

Now suppose that I murder an "UNSAVED" adult. Well now things get a bit tougher to reconcile. Do we just assume that because they didn't have their full life opportunity to find Jesus and be 'Saved', that they have no destination, other than hell?

Once again, suppose that I murder an "UNSAVED" adult. Oh but this time, we add a 'fly into the ointment'. This time God knows that at some point in their normal human future, this unsaved adult would have found Jesus and been 'Saved'. Thus, at the time this person was killed by me, they were not YET saved, so what does god do with this unsaved person that would have been saved; if I hadn't killed them prematurely and taken away their normal expected lifetime?

Sure seems they would go to hell, for they hadn't been Saved YET, and what one may have done in the future doesn't seem to count for much. After all, if we were to include all that would have found Jesus, anytime in the future, then why wouldn't God allow a billion years of time for us to find Jesus. Why do we get only several decades to discover this very important piece of information. He could have least given us a few hundred years to discover him, as folks in the early OT days tended to live.

Did he realize by reducing our life span that he cut us short in the time we had to find this Jesus?

This time, let's talk about my own fate for having taken another person's life.

Suppose I kill an innocent person today, but a year from now I find Jesus and become saved through his 'grace'. The next day I get hit by a car and die suddenly.

Does this mean I get to go to heaven, even though I had killed an innocent person?

From my understanding of how this 'saving' stuff works, it sure seems I would get my heavenly reward, and be right up there with all the 'good' folks who hadn't murdered a soul.

These little questions keep getting tougher, don't they.

So this one won't be any easier I'm afraid.

Now let's take two of these situations and combine them into one scenario.

This time around, I murder an "UNSAVED" adult on Monday, but one that God knows would have been Saved on Tuesday, as this person had already made plans to go to the 'right' church and was 'destined' to accept Jesus into their hearts.

Alas, what they may have done on Tuesday never took place because I killed them on Monday.

Once again, a year later I go to the 'right' church and find Jesus and become saved by his grace.

So now I'm Saved in God's grace and earned my just reward of heaven.

The unsaved innocent person I killed can't enter heaven's gates in an unsaved state.

Does god give this murdered person one last chance to repent right there on the spot?

Does god tell this former human, that he knows they would have converted in their normal human future, so they might as well see the light and convert right now, or suffer the flames of hell.

Bascially a last minute ultimatum, is being offered by God here.

It would SEEM if I kill an unsaved person, who in their normal future would have found Jesus, that this person is now destined to spend an eternity in hell?

I on the other hand, get my nice fluffy cloud (complete with harp) and bask for eternity in wonderful happiness, while the person I murdered is tormented in flames because they were too slow in finding this Jesus before I did-them-in.

"I do have some further thoughts now that I'd like opinions on:"

If we assume these children, babies and 'almost' saved adults, who met an early demise, get to go directly to heaven upon their death, then what was the point of their existence as humans on this earth?

What point is there for God to make us live as flesh and blood humans on this earth, if we all will exist for the rest of eternity (a very long time I must point out) as some form of spirit being?

Why not just create us from the start, in the spirit form we will spend all of eternity?

Where is the logic in the god requirement for most of us to suffer all the things that humans tend to suffer, in the course of one human lifetime on earth.

How is it fair that most Christains must suffer a full human existence in order to gain the keys to the locks of heaven's gates.

Why is it that children, babies and those who have chosen to be saved via Jesus, but who die prematurely, get a free pass to heaven without having to live out the normal human lifetime on earth.

If some get this free pass, then why don't most humans get the same free pass to nirvana.

If god's great plan/rules says we must begin life as humans, live out a full life on earth, and aren't allowed to skip this human step in the grand scheme of things; then how is it possible that a small percentage would get to bypass these rules of god's plan.

Doesn't it make a lot more sense if there really is a creator god out there, that he would create us in our eternal form right from the start. If we do then screw up, then he would just take our immortal lives away, rather than using this human stepping-stone process Christians claim is necessary; for reasons that baffle me.

Prophets Of Islam

Prophets Of Islam
With the creation of humans, ALLAH SWT appointed messengers to guide them. Allah sent many Prophets in different times to guide mankind. The first prophet was Adam a.s. ALLAH swt taught him the things which were never taught to anyone. This was his unique status because of which all the angels prostrated before him and shytan got cursed forever and ever. There is a sahih tradition of prophet Muhammad pbuh according to which all prophets are related.

Bukhari Volume 4, Book 55, Number 651:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "I am the nearest of all the people to the son of Mary, and all the prophets are paternal brothers, and there has been no prophet between me and him (i.e. Jesus)." This indicates that all the prophets were paternal brothers i.e. their fathers were relatives from paternal side. This also means that the linage of all the prophets is one. ALLAHU ALAM.

While in another sahih tradition of prophet Muhammad pbuh, it is stated that;

Muslim, Book 030, Number 5835:

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: I am most akin to Jesus Christ among the whole of mankind, and all the Prophets are of different mothers but belong to one religion and no Prophet was raised between me and Jesus. This hadith also indicates the same thing. Another thing is that between prophet Muhammad pbuh and ESA a.s, no other prophet came. So the time period in between witnessed no other prophet. From these ahadith, another important point is raised that Jews, who were waiting for a prophet to come after Moses first disbelieved Esa a.s and than in their utter arrogance, they disbelieved prophet Muhammad pbuh because they were expecting a messenger from their nation. Bani Israel is the only nation which received most number of messengers than other nations. Prophet Esa a.s also came to bani Israel who was denied by them because of their ignorance and jahiliyah.

The pagans of Arabia believed in ALLAH but also they had made their own gods out of ignorance. The messenger of Arabs was Ismael a.s, son of ibrahim a.s. After Ismael a.s, came prophet Muhammad pbuh in arabs.

According to the tradition of sahih muslim,

Muslim, Book 020, Number 4543:

It has been narrated by Abu Huraira that the Holy Prophet (may pceace be upon him) said: Banu Isra'il were ruled over by the Prophets. When one Prophet died, another succeeded him; but after me there is no prophet and there will be caliphs and they will be quite large in number. His Companions said: What do you order us to do (in case we come to have more than one Caliph)? He said: The one to whom allegiance is sworn first has a supremacy over the others. Concede to them their due rights (i. e. obey them). God (Himself) will question them about the subjects whom He had entrusted to them. Thus, the last prophet of Islam is Muhammad pbuh and there would be no other prophet. While this hadith also confirms that bani Israel received the most prophets. Still, this nation remained the most stubborn. And we see that even today, Israel is the only nation with arrogance.

ALLAh swt sent many messengers, according to a weak tradition, ALLAh swt sent one hundred and twenty four thousand messengers in total. While according to the scholars, the total number remains unknown. In Glorious Quran, ALLAH swt say;

4:164 (We sent inspiration to) the messengers We have mentioned to you earlier, and (also to) the messengers We never mentioned to you. (But) with Musa, Allah spoke "(not just through angels, or by inspiration). In Holy Quran, ALLAH swt has told us about few messengers while few of the messengers, as extracted by the scholars, from torah and bible. But since these scriptures are not the authentic text, so great scrutiny and care has been taken by the scholars in this regard.

According to this verse, the only messenger who spoke to ALLAH swt directly without any medium is Moses a.s. No other messenger ever had this privilege. While, after Adam a.s, the other messenger who led the humanity again was prophet Nuh a.s. In his era, came the biggest and most destructive flood which washed away virtually everything on eath. Prophet Esa a.s. Is the only prophet who was born without male intervention and he was the only prophet who was given prophet-hood in his childhood. Prophets Yusuf, zulqurnain and Suleiman (a.s) were the biggest and strongest kings.

While, prophet dawood a.s had such a beautiful that even bird and mountains used to listen to his voice attentively. The prophet who had the most beauty was prophet Yusuf a.s. It is mentioned in holy Quran that women cut their fingers when they saw him in his splendid beauty. Prophet Yunus a.s. Was swallowed by a whale and according to some historians, the place where he was taken off shore was the seashore of Makran, Pakistan. The prophet Dawood a.s. Was given this unique power of molding iron and he was the first one to make chain mails.

All the messengers brought the same message, i.e. the message of islam. All messengers preached that only One GOD is to be worshipped and there should be no other worthy of worship.

For muslim, one thing is must to believe in, that is, they have to believe in all the messengers. And they have to respect all of them. Islam is the only religion which puts this condition, if not met, a person cannot be a muslim no matter how much he worships ALLAH.

2:285 The messenger believes in whatever is revealed to him by his Lord; so do the believers! They all believe in Allah, His angels, (all) His scriptures, and (all) His messengers. (They say), "We do not differentiate between any of His messengers!" And they say, "We hear, and we obey. (We do seek) Your forgiveness, Our lord! And towards You is our journey's end!" thus, all messengers came with the same message but their message contained more commandments according to the need of the time. Prophet Muhammad pbuh came in the last and he pbuh was the final so he was given the final scripture which contains the message for all and for everything. This message will remain fresh till the last day. I hope you enjoyed the Introduction of Prophets of Islam.

Collage 246 H u m o u r N e t 8 APR 96Folks,I have the honour and privilege (thanks, Vince) to be your GuestModerator today for a Collage on Jewish jokes.Just a very short bio: I am a Hungarian-born Jew (what else, formoderating a Jewish jokes Collage?) who came to France at age 13 -- andhas stayed on ;-) My present job is teaching/researching at StrasbourgUniversity II (a Liberal Arts one) in Theoretical Computer Science --essentially applications of Mathematical Logic to ComputationalLinguistics and Artificial Intelligence. Strasbourg is a medium-sizedFrench town that lies at the border with Germany and houses at presentthe European Parliament, alternatively with Brussels in Belgium. It hasrecently organized celebrations for its foundation dating back at least2 000 years. Is there something that can be called Jewish Humour? Does it have aspecific nature? I would be quite hard-put to give an answer. As amatter of fact a few years ago (when I still lived in Paris) I dated avery attractive French girl, herself more or less Jewish. I proposed togo to the movies to see the most recent Woody Allen movie showing then.Whereupon she asked me to please tell her what the heck was funny aboutthe jerk and his lousy movies... Nevertheless, I see the French tellingeach other Belgian jokes (much like the Polish jokes over in the USA)-- and conversely. However I see the Jews telling (mostly) Jewishjokes. So maybe laughing at ourselves is something of a specific Jewishfeature. But then, the story goes, if you tell a joke to a Frenchman, he laughsonce: when you tell it. If you tell it to a Belgian he laughs twice:once when you tell it and once when he understands it. Tell it to aGerman and he will laugh three times: once when you tell it, once whenyou explain it and once when he understands it. Tell it to a Jew -- andyou are in trouble! First of all, he has already heard it before;second you told it all wrong and third he is going now to tell you abetter version which is *much more* funny.OK, hope you enjoy the Collage. And thanks again to the contributorsand of course to Vince who works very hard to make all this possibleand has set up a most ingenious environment for allowing GuestModerators to join the game.Credits:"False Advertising"Michel Eytan"Revenge, Jewish Style" and "Simple Economics"Shawn in Vancouver (Bawdy.Net Moderator)"On Spotting a Good Deal"Liz in Nebraska"Extrication, Defined" and "MAIDS"Dr. Mike"Divine Sympathy"Adam in Indiana- Michel Eytan HumourNet Guest Moderator HumourNet@telephonet."Opener (above) Copyright 1996 by Michel Eytan Permission is hereby granted to forward or post this "Collage"; please observe the guidelines stated at the end of the message": False AdvertisingA 3rd-generation Jewish-American is on a holiday in Israel. After that I read the clarification... and freaking ROARED. Gallop can be so facetious.

So give it is: "A POINTED SCRUTINY OF END OF THE DAY" at Fanpop!

Posture a flash to read the clarification.

They are rudely side-splitting seeing that comparing fictitious Edward to Robert, "THE GREASY, SYRUPY GUY."

Restless Dead

Restless Dead
Undead come in two varieties: live and programmed. This reflects the deep doctrine of mind/body dualism, and suggests that numerous undead may be limited beings. A apparition, for archetype, is a spirit or supervision not good enough a cost. A machinery is natural flesh with animating will but no supervision or variety.

When happens to the spirit so the cost is called back to service in the casing of the programmed undead? Does the quarrel world be full of an afterlife or an underworld everywhere the spirit resides? Is the spirit gladdened by the body's return to service? When if every time a border or machinery is lurid, the apparition is equally pulled back to the living thing realm, with no accidental for eternal rest until the machinery is destroyed? Ghosts could be whole allies to musician characters.

Perhaps necromancy requires that the apparition be in prison, preventing it from reuniting with the cost, derivative in necromancers collecting such detainee spirits (which would equally be of fascinate to demons or other entities that energy follow such material). This would produce in necromancers making numerous eerie enemies, and energy dine to their amazement of death and their own rummage through for immortality and lichdom. Mistake that, they would seek to escape the seep into of the underworld by true execution of the variety. A brand of necromantic fantasy.

These detainee spirits could equally be jolt to matter. Maybe some or all magic items are the byproduct of such necromancy. FrDave had a post about a magic sword that was infused with the spirit of an elf-maid, and in D this is marginal way to utilize everywhere magic swords get their sentience.

The greatest celebrated form of machinery creation: tearing the variety out of a constant living play a part, going away only an perpetual and programmed slave.

True Love Story A 50Th Birthday Celebration In The Midst Of Joy Love Laughter And Happiness

True Love Story A 50Th Birthday Celebration In The Midst Of Joy Love Laughter And Happiness
Today we celebrate a fab. couple - Pastor Dipo Filani and his gorgeous wifey, Omotola who marked her 50th birthday in style via a thanksgiving session in Church, Upper Room Baptist Church, Alagbado, Lagos, on Sunday (yesterday).

They have been married for seventeen years and blessed with five adorable children.

They call each other, honey - 'the honey in my tea"....how sweet!

While giving her testimony at the thanksgiving service, the excited celebrant said "I am celebrating today because of God, he has kept me thus far. My life is a bunch of testimonies. I met God 27 years ago and it's been a wonderful experience...you see, the good life i'm living today hasn't always been rosy....

Love is a moment, but friends are forever.

"...despite all the pains, God has brought me where I am today and he deserves all the glory...he gave me a wonderful husband and I can proudly say I am married to the best husband in the world....he is the honey in my tea, whenever I make his tea, I smile with joy cos he is the honey that keeps me going. He is a friend and husband in a billion. He has filled my life with love and happiness, making our time together special. He is a wonderful gift from God. " the celebrant gushed about her husband. Now here are some photos from the thanksgiving in church on Sunday:

Showering encomiums on his wife, Pastor Dipo said "She is my sweet sixteen, she has been a blessing to me...this woman is one in a million...she is the Deborah of my life, she is a complete definition of Proverbs 31 in the Bible...she is a gift."

And together, we cut the cake!

Prayers for the fab. family

A successful wedding is different from a successful marriage. The former is an event, the later is a process.
