Freemasonry On The Glenn Beck Show

Freemasonry On The Glenn Beck Show
Anti-Masons in the U.S. have been thwarted lately. The overwhelming publication of books by mainstream publishers, and the airing of documentaries on Discovery, History, NatGeo, etc., along with Dan Brown's decidedly glowing view of Freemasonry in The Lost Symbol, have all helped to blunt the maniacal claims of of Masonophobes. Only the perennially nervous believe the Albert Pike-Lucifer-Bloody Oath-Dollar Bill-New World Order silliness anymore. No other time in the history of the fraternity has the general public been armed with more truthful information about Freemasonry, readily available, by believable sources.

I don't know what you think of Glenn Beck, pro or con, so please don't barrage me with messages about him. He has a tremendously popular program on Fox News Channel, and on Fridays over the last few months, he has been hosting special programs known as "Founders Fridays." On these, he has been delving into little-discussed people and events from US history, and tying the programs together with a theme that is very familiar to Freemasons, that of "Faith, Hope and Charity."

One of Beck's favorite resources has been evangelist David Barton, who is the founder of a Christian organization called WallBuilders. Barton specializes in collecting original documents from the 1700-1800s, and contends the founders were largely Christian, and the US was founded as an expressly Christian country. WallBuilders is described on its website as "dedicated to presenting America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on the moral, religious, and constitutional foundation on which America was built." Barton's appearances on Beck have given him much exposure. Look him up, read his views, and decide what you may think of his arguments.

I recently sent a copy of Solomon's Builders to the Beck offices, because each show seemed to be dancing around the obvious connections of many of the founders being discussed and their membership in Masonry. I wasn't certain what Beck or Barton thought of the Masonic influences on Washington, Franklin, Warren, Hancock, Revere and others, because it never came up.

Then came this curious exchange on the Glenn Beck Show on August 6, 2010. (See the video here.)

This is a transcript from the Fox site.

STEVEN, AUDIENCE MEMBER: Did the free masons influence George Washington? And do they still have an influence to this day?

BARTON: Free masons had an influence on George Washington but not what we think of today. There is a big difference between the two. Free masonry today is not what it was at the time of Washington.

It was introduced in America in 1734. Washington entered into what were called field lodges, which was the only way in the British military, the officers and the common guys could meet together.

So it doesn't have the rituals or oaths or anything else that's common today. Actually, by 1799 it began to change. Washington was dead then. 1813 -

(CROSSTALK)

BECK: Wait, wait, wait. I have seen a painting of George Washington laying the cornerstone.

BARTON: You bet.

BECK: He was wearing the apron and everything else.

BARTON: You bet. You bet.

BECK: What do you mean there was no -

BARTON: The painting was done in 1976. The painting was done -

BECK: What?

BARTON: Yes. The one in the Capitol of Washington standing and laying the cornerstone. Now, there were some in 1840s and '50s.

BECK: I believe I have seen his apron in Mt. Vernon.

BARTON: Oh, he has an apron.

BECK: Right.

BARTON: But he would not allow himself to be painted as a mason. One guy tried to paint him and he said no way.

BECK: OK. If he had been (UNINTELLIGIBLE). He had the rituals.

BARTON: No, because the rituals didn't come in until much later. 1825 is when the rituals appeared. So there were three simple degrees, no oaths, no rituals, whatever. That came in about 1813 with what is called speculative masonry.

BECK: May I ask - I've always thought the role that masons played in the Declaration or in the revolution in the forming of the nation was the honor of it as it was understood back then.

But that you had a place to where you could go and speak privately, openly and no one would violate the secret.

BARTON: That was more European than it was American. That was the European model, but it was not the American model. And that's the way they hid it from monarchs in Europe.

The American model, when spoke your piece straight out any way, it was not a problem. And you'll find most of Americans - Founding Fathers who became masons did so as British citizens.

And so it wasn't that big a deal for them. Washington records in his last two years and talking about the masonry, that it was a very small influence in his life. He maybe attended 12, 10 lodge meetings over 40 years.

BECK: The Illuminati is going to off him -

BARTON: Oh, yes. They hate this.

Beck was clearly trying to find out Barton's view (for what it's worth, I don't think Beck has an anti-Masonic viewpoint), but see the new wrinkle in what Barton says about it: Masonry wasn't really important to Washington, and in any case, it isn't the same Freemasonry as it became after 1825. No oaths or rituals before 1813-1825? Speculative Masonry didn't begin until 1813? There is no way to ignore the Masonic membership of many of the founders, so Barton explains it away as unimportant, and not "really" the Freemasonry that is around today. And he makes up dates to sound authoritative about it.

It's sort of like prohibitionists who try to dance around the "Wedding at Cana" story of Jesus making wine by saying, "It's not really wine the way we understand it today. It wasn't alcoholic."

Samuel Pritchard's Masonry Dissected, an exposure of Masonic ritual that includes obligations, was published in 1730. Speculative Masonry officially began in 1717, and was transitioning to it throughout the mid to late 1600s. All in plenty of time to be the Masonry joined by the Founding Founders. Barton's 1813 date is the date in England of the Union between the Moderns and the Antients. As for his 1825 date, I am guessing he is confusing it with the date of the disappearance of William Morgan and the publication of his exposure in 1826. But who knows?

Washington was initiated on November 4th, 1752, passed March 3rd, 1753, and raised a Master Mason on August 4th, 1753, in Fredericksburg Lodge, an Antients lodge in Virginia. It was NOT a "field" lodge (I presume Barton used this term to describe a military lodge). Antients lodges largely aligned themselves eventually (very generally) with the revolutionary side, while the "Moderns" lodges were (again, very generally) more "Tory" in makeup. Here Barton again either misunderstands or mischaracterizes in his estimation that it was somehow not fashionable for post-revolutionary citizens to become Masons. It's just nonsense.

As for Washington not allowing himself to be painted as a Mason?

From the website of Alexandria Washington Lodge No. 22:

In July 1792 Washington turned down a request for a sitting from American artist William Joseph Williams, telling Governor Henry Lee of Virginia: "I am so heartily tired of the attendance which, from one cause or another, I have bestowed on these kind of people, that it is now more than two years since I have resolved to sit no more for any of them; and have adhered to it; except in instances where it has been requested by public bodies, or for a particular purpose (not of the painters) and could not, without offence, be refused. I have been led to make this resolution for another reason besides the irksomeness of sitting, and the time I loose by it, which is, that these productions have, in my estimation, been made use of as a sort of tax upon individuals, by being engraved, and that badly, and hawked, or advertised for Sale." Williams then offered to paint Washington's portrait for the Alexandria (Virginia) Masonic Lodge No. 22. Lodge officers wrote Washington in 1793 that it would be " a source of the most refined gratification the tracing out and contemplating the various ornaments of his character in the resemblance of his person." Williams's portrait shows Washington as a Virginia past master, with Masonic regalia and jewels. Williams's careful depiction includes a scar on Washington's left cheek, smallpox scars on his nose and cheeks, and a mole under his right ear.

From a history of Alexandria Washington Lodge No. 22 by Charles H. Callahan:

The Lodge desiring a correct likeness of their illustrious First Master passed a resolution requesting General Washington to sit for the painting, obtained his consent and employed Williams, an artist of Philadelphia, to execute the work. At the time the painting was made, General Henry (Light Horse Harry) Lee, representing the Eighth Congressional District, in which Alexandria is situated, in the National Congress, being not only the official representative of their section but a member of the Fraternity, arranged for the sitting and introduced the artist to President Washington. After the work was completed and General Washington had approved it, Williams personally delivered the picture to the Lodge, who officially approved it and paid the artist for his service.

The Question of Freemasonry and the Founding Fathers - Part 2

He is familiar with much of the early history of Freemasonry in the US, which is why his assertions made both on Glenn Beck and on the Wallbuilders broadcast are so creative in his attempt to argue that the Masonry of Franklin, Revere, Hancock and Washington really isn't the same as Freemasonry after 1825 or so. His overarching contention is that the bulk of the Founders were essentially evangelical Christians, not deists. So if Masonry was creepy and required "bloody" and "anti-scriptual" oaths, those godly Founders could never have joined it.

Several years ago, he published a book, The Question of Freemasonry and the Founding Fathers. It is out of print, but I have a copy on the way. On his radio appearances, he seems to object to Masonry because it, in his view, treats all religions equally, and because it requires members to take "oaths" that are scripturally improper. I have not heard him make inflammatory remarks against the fraternity, or really attack it.

However, I was intrigued by his remarks concerning objections some of his own fans had to him "cavorting" with Beck, who is a recent convert to Mormonism.

Read this from his Facebook page (Much too long to quote here.)

Based on that explanation, I would simply ask that Barton, or any evangelical Christians who hold anti-Masonic feelings, would apply his same words to Freemasonry as he does to Beck and the Mormons:

o Recognize that we are, or strive to be, gentlemen of piety and virtue.

o Judge a tree based on the type of fruit it produces, not the label that it bears.

o Don't impede the efforts of others if they are not attacking and trying to injure you, even if those individuals are not part of your particular religious circle.

o If someone is not actively fighting against you, then consider him an ally, not an enemy.

What The Difference Between Hypnosis And Meditation

What The Difference Between Hypnosis And Meditation

"Meditation is merely hypnosis without suggestion..." - is what some hypnotherapists will tell you.

And whilst this in some (very few) instances may well be true, it is unfortunate that this view is promulgated, as this only describes a very limited aspect of meditation, and does not consider the phenomenal number of forms of meditation that are in fact out there. It also does not consider the true nature of most forms of meditation.

To illustrate this I would suggest that one consider the incredible number of guided meditations that are offered, sold, and promoted by various profit and not-for-profit organizations. Of course to fully understand the impact of this one has to consider the makeup of most of these guided meditations, which include a few primary elements :

1. Usually designed to create an alternate state of consciousness.

2. Usually designed with a specific life / meditative objective in mind.

3. These objectives are even sometimes pursued in some form of metaphor, visualized or otherwise.

4. Can be administered by oneself, or by another, or in a group context, with great success.

When this is reviewed, it is clear that there is almost always an objective which is pursued in guided meditations. One then also has to acknowledge that no objectives can be reached without some form of suggestion to prod the practitioner in the right direction. Of course there are various other forms of meditation in which suggestion, in itself, plays a lesser role. It should be remembered though, that meditation without objective is usually fairly pointless, and as such most forms of meditation is practiced with some objective in mind. And not surprising is also then the fairly obvious deduction that there has to be some suggestion, even in these.

A further example of this would be a simple application of meditation for the purpose of relaxation. (a fairly common practice). In this instance there remains an objective. "Relaxation". And whilst suggestion is not usually passed during the meditation, they are usually pre meditative suggestions, which are then acted out during the meditation, and usually with desired results.

So to reduce in definition meditation to a pointless exercise, would be less than fair. This of course brings to mind another point of consideration.

Is there really a difference between hypnosis and meditation?... After all they do seem to have similar primary properties. And if so, wherein lies the distinction, if there is one ?...

Whilst the answers to these questions remain somewhat more complex, it should be considered that whilst this may not be recognized at this stage, meditation is clearly a less formalized form of hypnosis, and in fact qualifies as hypnosis in most analogies. Especially when the properties of an average meditation is considered.

In fact when this analogy is considered further, it comes to mind that meditation sets out to do in principle the same as hypnosis. It also focuses on creating mental states within which it is possible to manipulate the mind towards achieving objectives that have been set. One thing to remember though is that this is usually practiced in a far less formal environment, and more so in a solo situation, essentially resembling self hypnosis. Of course there are group environments wherein meditation is practiced, and usually in guided form. These however still maintain similar properties and as such can be as effective as most forms of hypnosis practiced.

With this in mind it would appear that there is virtually no distinction to be made in definition, except for their uses as therapeutic tools.

1. It is possible to therapeutically utilize hypnosis to manipulate and monitor responses from patients. This making it possible to apply direct, and instantly adaptable mental therapy in a controlled environment. This offers therapists an opportunity to treat more severe mental ailments for which meditation would not be suitable. Essentially this is achieved by the creation of externalized control through hypnosis, which is conducive to safe mental healing, of fairly severely ill patients. This also offers a fairly simple alternative to meditation for those who do not possess the inner ability and strength, to self hypnotize / meditate.

2. Whilst meditation can also be used as a therapeutic tool, it requires more practitioner internalized ability. Considering the nature of meditation, and the significant similarities that exist between meditation and hypnosis, meditation can be used as efficiently as most self hypnosis techniques, and even some therapeutic uses like regression and other forms of related hypnotherapies, are available to advanced meditators. It is possible for a practitioner to achieve similar result with meditation as with hypnotherapy, on things like say "helping you quit smoking". However when it comes to more severe mental ailments / conditions hypnotheraphy is without a doubt better for dealing with the issues that may come forth, due to the externalized ability of the therapist to monitor and improvise a session as needed.

Accepting this I would suggest that meditators should not be afraid to explore their own minds and abilities using meditation as a platform, and expanding it to include what would traditionally be considered selfhypnosis techniques. Noting that if this is done with care, one can achieve a lot more from your meditation, in a lot less time. Especially when combining techniques from both genres when focus is placed on inner self ability, rather than the traditional hypnosis requirement for externalized control. Applying this, one is also offered a unique opportunity to set your own hypnosis / meditative goals, which is not normally possible with hypnotherapists, as they usually want to decide what is best for you.

Of course there will always remain room for externalized hypnosis / meditation, and if the therapist can be trusted, this can also come with amazing benefit, and probably somewhat quicker results, than expected from attempts to do it on your own.

Physical Light And Moral Light

Physical Light And Moral Light
Physical light -- the light from the sun -- is also moral light.

Our scientific way of seeing nature tells us this seems wrong. How can physical light be moral? Light is comprised of particle-waves. Physical matter, even if that matter is the particle-waves of physical light, is simply "brute mass." And it is at our disposal to manipulate for our comfort.

As for morality, it has no connection to brute physicality (we say). Morals have no weight to them; they have no physical dimensions, no girth.

And so we segregate the physical world, answerable to physical laws, from the moral realm, answerable to... what?

Past cultures did not make this separation. When the medieval person looked up at the sky, he saw the vault of a vast and sublime cathedral designed and built by God.

In Imperial China, Confucianism taught that the moral stability of society depended upon all of its members cultivating social behaviors patterned after nature.

Certainly the Psalmist did not separate physical nature from moral uprightness: "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows his handiwork." We read this and we have no doubt that the Psalmist was simply "waxing poetic." What he says (we say) has no "literal meaning"; it is just a word picture.

Indeed it is a word picture. But I am not sure at all that a word picture is all the Psalmist had in mind. When he looked at the heavens, he saw the glory of God. When he looked at the firmament, he saw the handiwork of God.

When we look at the heavens all we see are atoms, particle-waves, brute mass. It is deeply impoverishing, and we don't even know it. We are so advanced.

Jesus says: I am the light of the world.

Aha, we say, now Jesus is waxing poetic. Surely Jesus means something like he can be a moral compass. Surely he did not mean that he is the light -- the physical light -- of the world?!?

Work with me now.

It also says that Jesus is the Word. It also says that all things are held together by this Word. Not just moral things. Not just spiritual things. ALL things -- which means also physical things -- are held together by the Word of his power.

Work with me now:

Jesus says: I am the light of the world...

Today is a sunny April day. In my part of the world, the rolling fields of farmland glisten and dance in the light of the world as far as the eye can see.

Am I a pantheist? Of course not! Am I a scientist? Well, I know less than one, but I may be more than one.

Psalm 19.1 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.

John 8.19 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."

John 1.1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

Hebrews 1.1-3 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power...

History Mystery Chanchan A Target Of The Inca Conquest 2

History Mystery Chanchan A Target Of The Inca Conquest 2
The Chimu were energetic builders, and established urban centres less grandiose than Chanchan in almost all of the valleys they ruled, including Tucume Viejo in the Leche valley and Pacatnamu in the Jequetepeque. They followed a tradition of urban construction established by earlier Andean civilizations, executing their work with greater skill, and on a larger scale. Only a powerful administration was capable of organizing such large building works. Some information has survived on the nature of Chimu government. The king was supreme, wielding absolute power. Known as the Quie quic, or Great Lord, he was like the Inca sovereign in claiming to be descended from the gods. Below the king were the Chimu chieftains, known as alaec, and the members of the royal family. One myth states that the king and the nobility were descended from two stars, while the common people sprang from two others.

The tale suggests that a strict class system existed, and that there was no possibility of movement between the classes. At the bottom of the social scale were the commoners, who were referred to as paraeng and yana, generally taken to denote vassals and servants. Agriculture was the main source of livelihood, on land owned mainly by the king and nobility. A few animals such as the dog and the Muscovy duck were raised for food. Fishing and hunting also supplemented the diet. The large-scale manufacture of craft goods also supported the economy, and trade was based on barter. The centralized state supervised various public works. For example, a network of roads was built to link the kingdom's different regions. An irrigation system, begun by the Moche a few centuries earlier, was extended to reach some of the desolate spaces around the valleys, to secure abundant harvests. Like other ancient peoples all over the world, the Chimu watched the movements of the heavenly bodies with fascination. Yet no divinity seems to have been worshipped as a supreme force. Legends refer to a variety of gods - notably the sea, the stars, the sun, and the moon goddess Si. Si was considered more powerful than the sun, because she was visible even during daylight hours. While knowledge of the Chimu's beliefs remains sketchy, ample material survives to form a picture of their superlative craftsmanship. Their goods included figures identical to those on wall friezes in the capital.

This suggests that a single model was used for multiple copies. Weavers worked on tapestries, embroidery, and ceremonial mantles made with feathers. Chimu potters specialized in a gleaming black ware - vessels cast in moulds and ingeniously embellished with human and animal figures. But it was in goldwork that the Chimu excelled. Chimu goldsmiths mastered the arts of soldering, chasing, and filigree work. Most goldwork was made from hammered sheet metal, although some pieces were cast in moulds. The results were exquisitely shaped golden bowls and goblets, masks, breastplates, and jewellery. The Chimu goldsmiths were famed beyond the frontiers of their own state. When the Incas overran the Chimu kingdom, they took the most skilled craftsmen back with them. In about 1460, the Incas began to penetrate the northern regions of Peru.

But Minchan-saman could offer only ineffective resistance, and Chimor was defeated and brought within the Inca domain. The Chimu king was treated well, and his son, Chumun-caur, was appointed to govern the defeated kingdom. But between 1485 and 1490, the unity of the kingdom was destroyed - its ruler became merely a provincial chieftain of the Moche valley, with no power over the neighbouring territories. The Incas went on to absorb Chimu achievements into their own empire, which extended beyond modern Peru to much of Ecuador and Bolivia, and parts of Chile and Argentina. Like Chimor, the Inca domain was rigidly centralized, with a system of roads and couriers running between the main centres. But now they carried the orders of the supreme Inca, the Child of the Sun. After the disintegration of the Inca Empire and its subjugation by the Spaniards, Chanchan - which was already partially abandoned - was sacked by the treasure-hungry conquistadores. The city fell into ruin, and the native goldwork was melted down in huge quantities and cast into ingots sold at the metal's market value. Yet neither time nor conquest has completely obliterated Chimu civilization. The Incas disseminated Chimu culture over an area much larger than the original kingdom, and the Spanish chroniclers preserved their legends. And even in their fallen state, the regal ruins at Chanchan evoke the majesty of the Chimu rulers and the inventive energy of their people.

Soothsaying And Islam

Soothsaying And Islam
Future is one of the biggest uncertainties for human beings. The fear of the unknown coming is so intense sometimes, that people go to soothsayers to quench their thirst of curiosity. Can future be predicted? There are some thousands of years old religions or cults that totally believe in fortune telling. Some books were found in ancient tombs predicting about future events. The 2012 hoax about eh end of world was the last prediction available in mayan calandre, an age old cult/ religion. But world did not end in 2012. Nothing of this sort happened.

The business of soothsayers has been progressed by the weak beliefs of people not because of the accuracy of information of soothsayers. There is now become a trend even in muslim countries that during bigger and important world events, soothsayers are specially paid to predict the results. For example, in the 2011 fifa football worldcup, there was an octopus baba who would predict about the coming successes. Similarly, in 2011 cricket world cup, there was a parrot baba in india who predicted the success of india. There was a man called mamu in pakistan, who predicted that pakistan will be the world champion similarly a baba in india also predicted the same.

Every year, people visit such fake baba's to know about their year ahead. Do all these babas and animals know the future? The simple answer is, knowledge of future belongs of Allah swt. No one can share even a shred of knowledge HE have. No one can predict the upcoming nor can change it. Then how do these sooth sayers sometimes give the right information? There is a hadith about this;

Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 93, Number 650:

Narrated 'Aisha:

Some people asked the Prophet regarding the soothsayers. He said, "They are nothing." They said, "O Allah's Apostle! Some of their talks come true." The Prophet said, "That word which happens to be true is what a Jinn snatches away by stealth (from the Heaven) and pours it in the ears of his friend (the foreteller) with a sound like the cackling of a hen. The soothsayers then mix with that word, one hundred lies." Thus, no human can have the ability to know what is coming but the devils over hear the talks in sky. They hear one or two words and then the fake soothsayers multiply that with lies. This is very true. The knowledge of past or future, which is hidden is not to be known to anyone if it is not the will of Allah swt. So, if someone does a trick and tells you the secret, he may be the liar.

Mostly, people fall prey for the tricks and lies of the fortune tellers because of the experience of fortune tellers. How? In different societies, the overall concerns about most people are same. For example, in indian subcontinent, marriage, children, job etc. are the main concerns. Now if someone wants help in these matters, fortune tellers know exactly how to trap the person by saying the right words. The earning from this business is not halal. It is said by beloved prophet Muhammad pbuh in the following hadith;

Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 63, Number 258:

Narrated Abu Mas'ud:

The Prophet prohibited taking the price of a dog, the earnings of a soothsayer and the money earned by prostitution. All the hidden knowledge and secrets are known to Allah swt only. What is unknown to man and is not told to mankind is not the kind of information we should look for. Those who say that they know such and such things of the secret, they are biggest liars. Their abode will surely be hell fire if they do not repent. Allah swt say in Holy Quran;

[006:050] Tell them, "I do not say to you that I possess the treasures of Allah or the knowledge of the unseen future! And I do not claim to be an angel. I only just pursue and follow the revelation sent to me." Say, "Can a blind man and the one endowed with sight ever be equal? Do you then not ponder?"The true source of knowledge and solution of all the problems is Quran. This is not just a book, but a code of life. Every time you open it, you will find yet a new information.

[069:042] Nor is it the word of a soothsayer (or a foreteller), little is that you remember!

The Hermetic Brotherhood Of Luxor

The Hermetic Brotherhood Of Luxor
Egypt. No other name in the Western Mystery Tradition invokes such respect, such mystery. The Black Land on the Nile. The place that most practioners of the High Arts will tell you that those same arts originated. Why this fascination with the land of Egypt? In the Modern Era, Egypt has been the source for inspirations for the occult world since Napoleon's expedition there at the close of the 18th Century.

There were several ancient schools of magick in Ancient Egypt. Everyone from Moses to Pythagoras was supposed to have been trained there in the magickal arts. Even the magnificent Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistos was supposedly found, cradled on the chest of Hermes, in an Egyptian tomb by Alexander the Great. This diminutive text of twelve brief statements is, along with the other Trismegistic literature, completely compatible with the Alchemical and Hermetic Traditions. Hermeticism, as we know, was the meeting of the ancient Hellenic and Egyptian cultures in the centuries at the beginning of the Common Era, and inspired by a god born from the merger of these two cultures, Hermes Trismegistos. Throughout the first three centuries of the Common Era Hermetic thought and philosophy was at its height.

The influence of Egypt on the Western Mystery Tradition continued through the various minor schools of the Kabbalah well into the 16th Century in Egypt. There were numerous schools in Alexandria and Cairo. The most famous product of these later schools of the Kabbalah was Rabbi Isaac Luria, commonly known as the Ari (AN ACRONYM STANDING FOR ELOHI RABBI ISAAC, THE GODLY RABBI ISAAC). It is from these later schools of the Kabbalah that originate several of the most important surviving commentaries of not only Kabbalistic writing, but also the Talmud and Torah.

Inspired by these great resources, in the 19th Century several groups of European magicians and esoteric students again began to look to Egypt. There were several Fringe Masonic groups that looked more at the Egyptian Mysteries, including the Universal Rite of Co-Masonry in France and the various occult orders that sprang up in England near the close of that century. The most well know of these orders was of course the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, but there was another earlier order that had just as much influence on what would become the modern Western Mystery Traditions. That order was the Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor, which helped influence the later Golden Dawn and in the United States, the Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.).

Voices Whispering Senselessly Around Me In The Dark

Voices Whispering Senselessly Around Me In The Dark

ROBERTA BLANKENSHIP

"Satan still persisted in tempting me with offers of powers beyond my expectations if I would return to my occultic practices. My dreams turned to nightmares as the devil invaded my subconscious. Time after time I awoke screaming, 'I believe in the blood of Jesus Christ!'

Strange things began to occur. Sometimes when I was alone in my room the closet doors would rattle. When I tried to determine the cause, I would see a glowering, fiery image which seemed to cackle. Often at night I would be awakened by voices whispering senselessly around me in the dark. I knew Satan had great powers and that he was using them to torment and upset me. He tried to make the good seem evil, to create doubts in my mind.

One rainy evening I had been listening to an album of piano music by Chopin. Shortly after I turned off the music, I went to sleep and began to dream. I found myself sitting before a grand piano surrounded by blackness, and I began to play beautiful melodious chords. Then I noticed a distant ray of light that seemed to come from a doorway, and I soon distinguished the figure of a tall man clad in nineteenth century garb standing in the doorway. I couldn't see his face for it was concealed behind a black cloud, but I sensed that his gaze was directed at me. Then the lanky figure began to walk toward me. As it came around the piano, I rose quickly and backed against a wall. It came up to me, breathing heavily on my neck. I sensed an evil presence and began to shout, 'Jesus Christ...Jesus Christ...the blood of Jesus Christ.'

I awoke screaming those words, my heart pounding. A heavy breathing sounded through the darkness of my room. Someone was lying next to me on the bed, breathing heavily! '"It's Mom",' I thought. I thrust out my arm to grab her, but it landed flat on the other half of the bed. Yet the impression of weight was there and the breathing continued.

Suddenly I heard a flapping by my feet. I raised my leg in an effort to knock at the thing and again sensed an unearthly presence surrounding me. Then the laughter began.

'Jesus save me,' I cried. 'I believe in the blood of Christ. In the name of my savior Jesus Christ I command this spirit to leave me.' Immediately the evil presence vanished. I turned on the lamp near my bed and sat up. 'Praise God for the blood of Jesus Christ.'

My little lamp burned until daylight."

Planets Within The Zodiacal Signs 1

Planets Within The Zodiacal Signs 1

By Gilbert Karlis

Sun - Moon - Mercury - Venus - Mars

Astrology is often a complex science that has been applied by numerous more than the centuries and for differing purposes. Even though we are familiar with indications in human character obtainable by traditional interpretation in the zodiacal sign under which we are born, we must also recognize the significance with the planetary positions in these Signs prior to doing any assessment of the horoscope.

Centuries of myth and legend have associated the recognized planets with natural energies or gods. Every has an influence on our Earth, just as all other natural forces. It's easier to accept this reality in the obvious power in the Sun, and also the Moon, than the invisible radiations in the planets. Even though we can not see them, science is in a position to measure the energies to which we usually react, though it is generally unconsciously.

The zodiacal Sign where a entire world is placed influences its energies, not only be moderating them, intensifying them or reducing their power but also by channelling the direction and purposes where this energy is finest spent in human nature and activity.

THE SUN includes a major influence and motivates for the achievement and positive expression from the individual. We are all familiar of the accepted traditions of our birth sign e.g. once placed in Aries it makes us forceful and outgoing and in Taurus will encourage accumulation of knowledge and wealth, and so on.

THE MOON is subtle but shares the responsibility of maintaining life generation on our Earth and obeys laws that direct fluctuations, cycles of growth and change. It has a powerful affect upon the brain, our moods and temperament.

In Aries, the Moon will incline someone on the hasty decisions, sudden ideas Taurus gives a liking for earthly satisfactions and practical methods of advancement Gemini intense interests and the gift of mental wit, writing and speech Cancer fosters all of the virtues from the feminine qualities of caring and kindness in idea and deed Leo will be inclined to control and to lead but often with conceit Virgo encourages industries demanding detail and accuracy and adore of cleanliness, often significant Libra will attempt to employ gentle emotions, manners and romance to the art of living Scorpio will strengthen strong, sometimes violent emotions and also extreme psychic sensitivity Sagittarius thoughts will be wide and scattered as their emotions Capricorn is inclined to be overly slow and cautious in idea and feeling Aquarius has humanitarian inclinations of notion and feeling Pisces reduces the assertive aspect from the ego and sensitivity towards the life can weaken or incline to poetic or impractical life as visionary.

MERCURY affects the mind and also the expression of thoughts. In Aries the mind will be forceful and direct, courageous but speech can wound or hurt others. Taurus has slow and additional leisurely idea processes and ideas which are not usually exciting. Power of speech is always expressed in song. Gemini is suited to its most effective expression in astute keen thought, sense of humour and ease in communication with others. Cancer thinks and feels in an interwoven fashion. The globe in this sign gives great memory. Leo tends to imbue sense of superiority and popularity but typically with benign intent. Virgo gives a wonderful, clear intellect and love of perfection - if not exaggerated to build anxiety Libra generates harmonious thoughts and aspirations toward culture of beauty and refinement Scorpio has intensity of thought and emotion requiring powerful self discipline to avoid damaging tendencies and suppressed jealousies Sagittarius sets impossible goals with restless mind, desire for stud, travel and philosophy Capricorn minds are dependable, reasonable and practical requiring order and planning Aquarius inclines to wider issues than individual - to science that offers benefit to humanity in general, and also metaphysical spheres too Pisces minds are hypersensitive and rely upon intuition and their feelings that are sometimes in conflict with their additional down to earth thoughts

VENUS represents ease, excellent fortune, adore and harmony. In Aries might be implies an attractive personality but 1 inclined to self indulgence Taurus stimulates the artistic, inspired by material beauty, music as well as the excellent things of life Gemini has changeable affections and fickle moods but by charm and sense of humour entertains Cancer affections are genuine, caring and need stable relationships to be happy Leo is generous in affection, noble in ideals and believes life is for sure enjoyment Virgo thoughts always dominate feelings but is not as cool as seems to others, but charming and tiny Libra loves love, friendship and marriage, partnerships that are based on equality and truthfulness Scorpio has passionate emotions, adore is focussed strongly but tends to transform once thwarted Sagittarius needs freedom in all issues just like matters with the heart but gives significantly when free Capricorn is faithful and actual in heart although staid and unspontaneous in expression Aquarius makes for loving emotions, responsive to people in general but somewhat detached in relationships Pisces inclines the Venusian expressions being vague, diffused, sometimes disturbing as a result of unrestrained imaginings. Their adore is finest expressed as soon as harnessed to helping others

MARS energies and desires are used in many ways - In Aries by self assertion and self interest pursuits but able of beneficial courage beyond the norm Taurus has vitality sometimes restrained but strong possessive requirements and materialistic ambitions Gemini wastes energy after not confined to particular enterprises that harness natural talents Cancer creates strongly emotional nature anchored close to security, safety and domestic issues Leo has strong goals and aims high but is sometimes intolerant of lesser mortals Virgo employs fastidious attention to detail in work and enterprises and all creative expressions Libra has energy that has a couple of channels of opposing perception that create friction and foster indecision Scorpio gives strong sexuality and energy levels but can be overbearing, violent or selfish unless anchored by high ideals Sagittarius optimistic in enterprises, over-abundant enthusiasm encourages overstepping capacities to obtain some thing well Capricorn is persistent and generally successful in chosen career designed to advance self and circumstances. Aquarius finest used in scientific channels that use natural intellectual skills and wide vision Pisces is as well self sacrificing to become outwardly an achiever and finds dilemma in finding a life niche.

Great Atheistic Quotes

Great Atheistic Quotes
"WHAT IS ATHEISM?"

Atheism is characterized by an absence of belief in the existence of gods. This absence of belief generally comes about either through deliberate choice, or from an inherent inability to believe religious teachings which seem literally incredible. It is not a lack of belief born out of simple ignorance of religious teachings.

Some atheists go beyond a mere absence of belief in gods: they actively believe that particular gods, or all gods, do not exist. Just lacking belief in gods is often referred to as the "weak atheist" position; whereas believing that gods do not (or cannot) exist is known as "strong atheism."

Regarding people who have never been exposed to the concept of 'god': Whether they are 'atheists' or not is a matter of debate. Since you're unlikely to meet anyone who has never encountered religion, it's not a very important debate...

It is important, however, to note the difference between the strong and weak atheist positions. "Weak atheism" is simple skepticism; disbelief in the existence of god. "Strong atheism" is an explicitly held belief that god does not exist. Please do not fall into the trap of assuming that all atheists are "strong atheists." There is a qualitative difference in the "strong" and "weak" positions; it's not just a matter of degree.

Some atheists believe in the nonexistence of all gods; others limit their atheism to specific gods, such as the Christian god, rather than making flat-out denials.

"Is there such a thing as atheist morality?"

If you mean "Is there such a thing as morality for atheists?," then the answer is yes, as explained above. Many atheists have ideas about morality which are at least as strong as those held by religious people.

If you mean "Does atheism have a characteristic moral code?," then the answer is no. Atheism by itself does not imply anything much about how a person will behave. Most atheists follow many of the same "moral rules" as theists, but for different reasons. Atheists view morality as something created by humans, according to the way humans feel the world 'ought' to work, rather than seeing it as a set of rules decreed by a supernatural being.

"Then aren't atheists just theists who are denying god?"

A study by the Freedom From Religion Foundation found that over 90% of the atheists who responded became atheists because religion did not work for them. They had found that religious beliefs were fundamentally incompatible with what they observed around them.

Atheists are not unbelievers through ignorance or denial; they are unbelievers through choice. The vast majority of them have spent time studying one or more religions, sometimes in very great depth. They have made a careful and considered decision to reject religious beliefs.

This decision may, of course, be an inevitable consequence of that individual's personality. For a naturally skeptical person, the choice of atheism is often the only one that makes sense, and hence the only choice that person can honestly make.

The word "deny" can be used to mean "fail to accept the truth of." In that sense only, atheists deny the existence of god. They are not "in denial," willfully ignoring evidence; nor do they necessarily positively assert the nonexistence of god.

Turning The Other Cheek Egyptian Style

Turning The Other Cheek Egyptian Style
We bring you the next installment from James at Winter Patriot Community. As the events in Egypt unfolded, we watched carefully to try to discern the forces in play. We thought we might be seeing something new. The only thing we might add to James' piece is that, from our perspective, the events in Egypt implode the accusations against Islam as a violent religion, and against the Arab world in general. At some point, lies become unsustainable.TURNING THE OTHER CHEEK - EGYPTIAN STYLEIn the last article in this series on how Israel plans to rule the world, we ended up by reading the words of some of the protesters who were determined to keep control of their protest and their movement. This protest movement was at first seen as an extension of the protest movement in Tunisia which has been credited with the fall of the dictatorship of BenAli. But it soon began to follow a different course. The same pattern of American trained social activists (see here and here) were there as they were in Tunisia (and every other 'color revolution' in recent years) but two differences stood out as events progressed.Firstly, the protests were huge in comparison and all sectors of the Egyptian society were represented so that the American trained 'Young Turks' were swamped by the people and the local leaders that the protests threw up.Secondly, the protesters did something very different. They stood together in the face of brutal and sometimes murderous attacks from police both in and out of uniform, from thugs and criminals deliberately released from prisons and from trained snipers. They stood together against earlier separate attacks on Christians and Muslims designed to start them fighting each other. These bombings had the fingerprints of Israel and its murderous Mossad all over them. The protesters stood together, defended and cared for each other and tendered to the wounded. They chose not to retaliate and resolved instead to come back and demonstrate again the next day in spite of the beatings and killings and to keep on doing so. They 'turned the other cheek' and this is what made their protest powerful and released them from the grip of the forces who were not only behind the gullible American trained activists but also behind the likes of Omar Suleiman, head of the Egyptian Intelligence agencies, behind the police force, and, no doubt, behind the snipers, too. These dark forces can be traced back to Mossad and the CIA, then to their governments and ultimately to the bankers that control those same governments. They were going to crush these protesters but it relied on the protesters turning violent in response to all the provocation and so justifying their violent put down. But the protesters gloriously didn't rise to the bait and thereby defeated their opponents in this first and crucial round. Everybody watching on was so confused as to who was going to do what next that the significance of what happened escaped most people. Perhaps because, ironically but not surprisingly, the true nature of the teaching, "turning the other cheek", is not taught in our so-called Christian culture, observers did not recognise the power displayed through the true exercising of it."Turning the other cheek" has been falsely portrayed as a passive and even submissive practice or strategy but nothing could be further from the truth.Jesus said in Matthew 5:38-39 (NIV) "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. An "eye for an eye" means countering violence with violence; as if this will resolve an issue. Why wouldn't the returned violence be returned again in turn? And so on ad infinitum? Yet this is the recipe preached by Judaism. How has it worked so far? It has worked extremely well for those with a vested interest in ever more violence but not for the rest of us. So let's look at the proposed alternative. It is curious is it not that Jesus would specify the right cheek? It must have had significance for him to mention it. Most people then, as now, are right-handed and unless you are trained in the gentle art of boxing it is usual to strike someone with your right hand. So to strike someone on their right cheek with your right hand, you need to give them a 'backhander'. This is the strike of choice for superiors when dealing with people they consider to be inferior to them and insubordinate to boot. So this is the situation Jesus was teaching on; how to deal with evil people in power. When you turn the other cheek they cannot repeat the backhander, they have to punch you if they want to continue. The trouble for them then is that they lose their superior position, their perceived legitimacy, in the eyes of the audience and are reduced to brawling like common thugs. Which is what they are; thugs in fine clothes. This perceived legitimacy is crucial because any despot knows that the people en masse have the power and not him. Hence all the pomp and pageantry and all the police and military might to impress this idea of superior status and power onto the general populace. Power over others is ultimately an exercise in deceit.Turning the other cheek is an act at once defiant and yet non-aggressive. It is in no way submissive. This action refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy or authority of the abusive power just as the people of Egypt have done. It does not accept the authority of the attack. It does not submit just like the Egyptians have not submitted. They have instead continued to demand that Mubarak's criminal behaviour cease and that he remove himself from his position of imposed privileged. They have pledged to stand there turning the other cheek until he does.Meanwhile, Mubarak was in the midst of his own tussle with the agents of the Americans and Israelis within his government and military. To combat his enemies, he desperately needed the protesters, the people, to cease their demonstrations against him, accept his promises and go home. But they refused. Source Mubarak's enemies within the gates, on the other hand, needed the protesters to turn violent to create what would look like a melting down of society and thereby give them the excuse to intervene using their own authority and attack the protesters for putting the 'security of the country' at risk and also to remove Mubarak from office at the same time for inciting the protesters with his intransigence in not resigning. (This is the reason the Israeli government was urging Mubarak to stay in office and lobbying other governments urging them to do the same i.e. to further exacerbate the situation). It would have been seen as a nice win-win for the generals just like in Tunisia except there were three differences. The first difference was that Tunisia doesn't have a Suez canal which is coveted by Israel. And likewise, nor does it have a Nile river whose water was promised to the Israelis by Sadat in the peace treaty we are hearing so much about again. And finally and most importantly, the protesters refused to play ball; they rejected violence, "an eye for an eye". Had the protesters rioted in response to the outrageous provocations and the army marched in behind tanks with guns blazing, the rioting most probably would have spread throughout the country and Egypt would have become chaotic thus triggering the excuse for the anticipated invasion from Israel. Too late, the generals would see that they had been set up by their American and Israeli sponsors. But the overall plot and this plot within a plot were defeated because the protesters refused to "resist". Resist in this biblical context means to stand against i.e. to "go toe to toe", to battle with evil by returning violence. The protesters instead turned the other cheek and confused all their enemies; Mubarak, the generals and the world dominionists working through their captive governments of the US and Israel, their agencies from Mossad to Freedom House, their agents within the Egyptian hierarchy and their at least one time dupes in the sponsored activist organisations. By not "resisting" in this manner, the protesters have saved Egypt an extraordinary amount of violence so far. Not only was it the way of peace for them but it became the way of peace for everybody. Such is its power. It is still only 'round one', for sure, but the army is on notice that the protesters will be out in the streets again if they don't enact serious changes to the constitution and the electoral process. And all gained without firing a shot. So what exactly transpired? How did this non-violent mass protest win "Round 1"? I've quoted Mao before saying "All political power comes out of the end of a gun". And it is very true. Despite what may have been written in recent history, the only party in a country that can seize power from an incumbent political figure or party is that country's own military. They have the guns. (Costa Rica disbanded its army sixty years ago for this very reason). BUT if the soldiers holding those guns refuse to shoot then the power of the military leaders evaporates. So ultimately it is the foot soldiers who have the power in these situations. These are the enlisted men or, crucially in Egypt's case, conscripted men. Soldiers are trained to return violence. When they are called upon to act "pre-emptively", they first must be convinced through propaganda that the 'enemy' is about to become violent towards them and their fellow countrymen. But what if the 'enemy' is not some bunch of rioters but rather their brothers and sisters, their mothers and fathers and it is very clear that they are not threatening violence but quite the opposite? Then human nature kicks in (psychopaths aside) and overrides the training and the propaganda and that is when the ordinary soldiers join the protesters. This is the very real situation the military generals faced. The generals and their sponsors were put between a rock and a very hard place by the protesters rejecting violence, an eye for an eye, and chose to "turn the other cheek" and stand there with their demands. If violence was the basis of human interactions between each other rather than co-operation, then there would be no need for all the fearful propaganda that we are constantly bombarded with in our society by our political 'masters'. The US and Israel should have seen the tell-tales that this 'color revolution' would not go as the others have but in their hubris they were blind. The tell-tales were there for everyone to see.Back in December there were bomb attack against the Coptic Christians (link). These were undoubtedly perpetrated by Israel. The bombs were designed to cause splits between the two main religions in Egypt, the Muslims and the Coptic Christians. Mosques were attacked as well. This strategy of the Israelis has worked elsewhere but the response was different in this case. In an act of courage and love, the Muslim community committed to protect the Copts with their own bodies and declaring their commonality with the Copts; their commonality as Egyptians and as human beings. The significance of this cannot be overstated. This care and concern was reciprocated later in Tahrir Square where Christians surrounded muslims who were praying during the protests. SourceEgyptians adopted a banner that displayed a Christian cross and a Muslim crescent together. The usual suspects should have taken heed. And we the spectators of this world event should have foreseen the very real possibility of the victory that lay ahead. But we didn't. We didn't because we have not been educated to know the true power of collectively turning the other cheek. We haven't been taught it because it threatens any entrenched power that presumes to exploit people and that includes religious power; especially religious power. Religious despots will teach that "turning the other cheek' is an act of humility; an act of submission, even martyrdom. What they are, in fact, teaching is humiliation. And this is exactly what the Egyptian protesters have complained about; 30 years of it from Mubarak and many more before him. But no more.Jesus, who is revered by both Muslims and Christians, taught and granted people dignity through his words and his example. He remained dignified and unbowed to authorities throughout his entire life.As I write this, I see that "Round 2" has started. The Egyptian protesters are out in the streets again and filling Tahrir Square demanding their fellow protesters who have been arrested be released and their torturers be brought to justice. From the ABC News Aust- "Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians have poured into Cairo's Tahrir Square to celebrate the fall of president Hosni Mubarak and to pressure the new military rulers to deliver on reform pledges".Influential Muslim cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi addressed the massive crowd during the prayer sermon, calling on Arab leaders to listen to their people."THE WORLD HAS CHANGED, THE WORLD HAS PROGRESSED, AND THE ARAB WORLD HAS CHANGED WITHIN," said Mr Qaradawi, an Egyptian-born cleric based in Qatar." SourceThe scene in Tahrir Square Friday morning Feb 18th 2011"This clickable picture from the BBC is a dramatic illustration of the cooperation and spontaneous organization that was fostered by the protesters' intent and desire to turn the other cheek."~ McJ

This week, I will be blogging with Barbara Moore's latest addition to the world of tarot: the Book of Shadows Tarot, As Above (Lo Scarabeo, 2012). This is a very unusual deck, which is designed as a tool for learning about and using pagan beliefs and magic. Many of the Majors have been renamed, and have quite unusual associations to deity, the Wheel of the Year, and elements of the Pagan path such as initiation, transformation, and sacred space.

The suits are given elemental titles, and are also unusual in their associations. For instance, the suit of Fire (Wands) is connected to astrology, with the cards Ace to Ten representing planets and constellations. The suit of Air (Swords) shows different forms of divination, and the suit of Water (Cups) talks of the feminine aspect of the divine. The suit of Earth (Pentacles) explores the natural world as a source for sacred insight. The Courts have been totally revisioned and renamed - Elementals, Maiden, Mother and Crone.

For this first draw, the card I pulled is one that is normally a favourite - the Nine of Pentacles. This is a very unusual depiction, showing a cow in a meadow with other cows, sheep, and little white-bearded, purple-hatted gnomes all about. There are trees in the distance, and soft, pillowy clouds in the sky.

This is a far cry from the traditional woman in a garden, surrounded by luxury and with a hawk on her wrist! Still, I love Barbara's description: "this cow, standing solidly in her field, contentedly munching her grass, is the epitome of being present... It is a state that is both sensual and spiritual, knowing that one is exactly where one should be and is enjoying it to the fullest."

So, today I shall try to stay present, no matter what I am doing. I also see some of the more traditional Nine of Pentacles in my day - I'll be stopping by college to hand in the hard copy of my dissertation protocol, which I submitted last Friday :) Hard work paying off, now the waiting begins...

I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE REMINDER THAT LIFE IS AMAZING.

Ancient Aliens - The Power of Three Posted: 30 Oct 2013 12:19 AM PDT Reverence for the number three dates back thousands of years, and can still be found today in art, architecture, science, literature, and religion. What is it about this number that continues to fascinate mankind? Could this recurring motif contain a profound message? The ancient Egyptians believed the design of the three pyramids of Giza came from the Gods. Diverse cultures across the world worshipped divine beings that ruled as all-knowing triads. Isaac Newton searched for the secrets of the universe in an ancient tablet that spoke of the power of the number three. Even the language of our DNA is written in a pattern of threes. Could the combination of all the trios and trinities embedded throughout the mythical and religious world suggest that the power of three might somehow connect humanity with divine or, as some would believe, extraterrestrial forces?
